An asset that only works when you personally do every task is really a job. In this lesson you will document your core processes, automate the repetitive steps and delegate carefully, so your asset keeps moving when you are busy, and becomes far more attractive to a future buyer.
The document, automate, delegate order
Track your time for one week. List every recurring task and how long it takes. Mark each one as “only I can do this,” “could be automated,” or “could be delegated.”
Write SOPs for your top 3 tasks. Record your screen while doing the task, then have AI turn the transcript into a step-by-step checklist. Add screenshots and quality standards.
Automate one trigger-action flow. Start simple: when X happens, do Y. Use Zapier, Make or n8n.
Add a second, AI-assisted flow. For example, a new product row in a spreadsheet triggers an AI draft description that lands in a review queue, not straight onto your site.
Delegate one small task. Choose something well-documented and low-risk. Pay fairly, share the SOP, and review the first few deliveries closely.
Set up a weekly review. 30 minutes to check automations ran, review delegated work and update SOPs.
Update your asset handbook. Log every automation, tool, login location and contractor, so nothing lives only in your head.
